Chinese christians use the word "神" or "上帝" (pronounced as ''shàng-dì'' which means: Supreme God/Above Sovereign/Lord On High), as the Chinese equivalent for "God".
 
(The word "shàng dì" had already been in use long before Christianity arrived in China and was never represented with images or idols in Chinese tradition.)
